It's not just too hot! Overseas reactions to Japan's crazy summer②
BLOG

Hello everyone!
Isn't it too hot in Japan in the summer?
We're curious about how people from overseas feel about it, so let's take a look!
The dangerous Japanese summer
For example, Malaysia is hot and humid all year round. It is said that the Japanese summer is more dangerous than the Malaysian summer.
Furthermore, according to the same survey, nearly 90% of people from overseas say that the summer in Tokyo is hotter than in their own countries.
Foreigners living in Japan. 90% say it's hotter than their home countries.
In addition to humidity and temperature, we must not forget the unique environment of Tokyo. Tokyo is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. And the way Tokyo is built means that there are many places where you feel the heat.
First, there are the crowded trains during rush hour. Naturally, when people gather, the temperature rises due to the heat. Most station platforms are outdoors, so even while waiting for the train, you are inevitably exposed to the heat. In contrast, in a car-dependent country, you wouldn't feel the heat as much while moving around.
Additionally, due to Japan's high environmental awareness, the temperature settings for air conditioners in commercial facilities are often set quite high, and fans are often used. Given the increasingly severe heat, it is questionable whether such countermeasures are sufficient.
Staying stylish and composed despite the heat
There are also people who seem to be intentionally increasing their discomfort. Despite the heat, which can ruin any outfit, everyone is dressed to the nines. Even wearing a straw hat just makes your head sweaty...
We can't help but wonder why everyone is so dressed up when walking through the streets of Tokyo. It's as if stepping out of the house is like walking onto a fashion show runway, with everyone dressed to the nines.
Furthermore, some women walk the streets fully covered up for sun protection. Despite the unbearable heat, they cover their arms and necks. Their passion for beauty is truly astonishing. From an overseas perspective, it might seem odd or even like some kind of religion.
Given the heat, wouldn’t it be better to just wear a T-shirt and shorts? But that’s not how it works in Tokyo.
What do you think?
Even though it's so hot you want to escape, we're grateful to everyone who still loves Japan!
Let's make sure to take proper heat precautions!
